This site is run and maintained by Ryan Glynn (me). This page contains a bit of background about myself for anyone that is curious.

I am a 2012 graduate from Penn State University with a B.S. in Security and Risk Analysis with a focus in Intelligence Analysis and Modeling as well as Cyber Security. I also speak 4 languages: English (native), Arabic, German, and have been taking Croatian lessons for over 2 years now (since 2019). I have worked for KPMG in New York City, Capital One in Virginia, and Compass remotely. I have also completed a Master’s in Cyber Security from University of Maryland University College and I am currently enrolled in a Master’s in Data Analytics from Western Governor’s University.

Within Splunk I have done everything from provisioning and installing the servers to creating security alerts, operational dashboards and everything in between. Within the ELK stack I have primarily focused on creating security and operational alerts and dashboards. I have obtained Splunk Power User, Splunk Administrator and Splunk Architect certifications and am considered a “Splunk guru” from my peers. Security is a passion for me and everything I do I try to do it properly and securely.

Non Cyber Security Related Stuff About Me:

I worked with and did webdesign for the band Step Zero for 7 years (2005-2012), I did some PR management for them as well. It was such a joy as I got to see them get radio play and make soundtracks for TV shows. I also got to meet some pretty famous people on my journey with them. Sadly, this journey ended shortly when the band member Aric Fleury died in 2012.

I have co-founded 2 companies so far: mhoto and CinemaRama. mhoto was a technology company that works on composing brand new musical soundtracks based on analysis of text, photos and videos. CinemaRama was co-founded by me and my (now) wife and was bootstrapped company to try and give artists their entire control over how they sell their art and what they sell it for and who it is to. It was to be the first site to streamline commercial licensing into the site as well as giving the highest payouts of any digital retail company to artists across all mediums (music, film, voice acting, graphic design, comedy etc). I have been interviewed on Forbes, Penn State Newswire, and Al-Jazeera America along with being published in Engadget, Entrepreneur Magazine and PetaPixel. I left mhoto in 2014 and dissolved CinemaRama in 2015 after working on it for 4 years. I learned a lot from both endeavors even though they never got to the level I had aspired to obtain.

In September of 2016, I got married to my beautiful and super smart wife, Bella Belanich (Glynn now!). She has her own website about Data Science, so you should check that out @ www.bellabelanich.com! She writes better than me so if you like my blog then you’ll love hers! Together we have a white blue merle collie, a white sable collie and 2 cats. We also recently got a drone the fly around when we travel. I have created my own Arabic KLC for Windows OS which allows the person who installs it to easily type Arabic Characters along with the Hindi Digits (since the native Windows 7 Professional Arabic KLC does not allow users to do this).
